The 10/10 rating is PC specific, as I would long have run out of interest, if it wasn't for it's massive modding community. I've actually been playing that for years, but did two full new playthroughs this year so still counts. Both for immersion and since they no longer could just throw walls of text at you like in Poe1. Character levelling and building system for me hits the sweet spot between complex and yet not so obtuse that you need to follow a paint-by-numbers guide and can actually experiment yourself. Despite it's Age of Exploration settings it's actually quite balanced theme-wise instead of all dark and pessimistic. Just make sure to use the "re-targetting resored" mod for turn-based.
Turn-based combat may have been tacked on later, but I had much more fun with it than in DOS2. My favorite of the new-oldschool-RPGs I played thus far. In other words IMHO it's not about tactics, but out-cheating a cheating AI.
You can win anyway by "tactics" like blocking enemy movement via placing of barrels and other obstacles that AI enemies cannot move. The AI enemies are all overpowered regarding initiative et etc.
I'm a fan of turn based combat in RPGs and didn't like the combat at all. What caused me to dislike it are two things: Difficult to judge for me as I didn't like it much despite it not really having any objective flaws. The DLCs are a bit thin content wise, but playing Cyrano for Hans was hilarious and A Womans lot did a great job with Thereas story as well as showing you how the Inquisition actually worked.ĭivinity Original Sin 2 PS4. Try and play this game with surround sound if at all possible. What sold me on it after a rocky start wasn't some grand epic quest, but the mission where you join the town watch of Rattay and a Veteran shows you the ropes of the place, the local laws and the life in the town. But it's the most immersive RPG I've ever played. Yes it's got issues, some bugs remaining, etc. Bought in last years PS January sale and started in the first week of 2020. Don't know if I got all, since I play games from GOG without Galaxy running so unlike Steam and PS4 I can't check a log. 10 June 2021.Everyone else seems to be doing it, so why not.
